Here are some of the most frequently asked questions which may help you in knowing about solar power system's cost, economics and which one will be best for you.
Rooftop Solar Power Plant is the one of the Solar Power Plants, which is installed on roof of household, hotel, factory, school, college, office etc.
(i). On-Grid Power Plant
(ii). Off-Grid Power Plant
(iii). Hybrid Power Plant
On-Grid Power System also known as Grid-tie or Grid-feed Solar System. In On-Grid Power Plant your excess produced power is exported to the grid and when your consumption is more than your generated power then it will auto import from the grid.
Note: Any excess solar power that you generate is exported to the electricity grid and you usually get paid a feed-in-teriff (FiT) or credits for the energy your export.
As it's name also re-present it well and because in this system your solar system is directly connected with the electricity grid so it does not need of any battery for storage or backup.
Solar Panel
On-Grid Solar Inverter
Junction Box
Mounting Structure
Net Meter
Cable
Off-Grid Solar System also known as Stand Alone Power System (SAPS). In Off-Grid System your solar system is not connected to the Electricity Grid and you need of batteries for the storage and backup of power for later use. It is most usefull for the remote areas where regular electricity supply is the major problem.
Hybrid Solar Power System is the combination of On-Grid Solar Power System and Off-Grid Solar Power System. Hybrid Solar Power System is connected with Electricity Grid and also have battries for Power Storage so that in the situation of no electricity you can use it.
Net Meter is an electricity meter which measures solar power that you produced and import to the grid and also exported to the grid. After import and export of the electricity you pay for the Net measured electricity bill.
In case you want to get install solar power system of smaller than 10KW then it will cost about Rs. 47/W.
1KW Solar Power Plant will be of 47*1000 = Rs 47000
If you get install the solar power system of above 10KW then it will cost you about Rs. 45/W.
1KW Solar Power Plant will be of 45*1000 = Rs 45000
DISCOM rate of electricity supplied to household in UP is Rs 6.50/unit. Value of electricity generated by 1KW solar power plant in a year will be 300 days * 5 units per day * 6.5 rs per unit = 9750 rs..
Therefore, we can recover our capital investment of Rs47000 to install 1KW in almost 4 years.
DISCOM rate of electricity supplied to commercial establishment is Rs8.5/unit. Hence value of electricity generated by 1KW solar power plant in a year will be 300 days * 5 units per day * 8.5 rs per unit = 12750 rs..
Therefore commercial establishment can recover its capital in almost 3 years, 6 months and domestice establishment can cover its capital almost within 4 years, 6 months.
